Welcome to St. Maartan a unique island that is shared by two countries – Netherlands and France. Your hike takes you 1400 ft (424 metres) above sea level through lush tropical vegetation to Pic Paradis the highest point on the island. At the peak, you will enjoy sweeping panoramic views over the entire island and neighbouring islands.
The downward trail takes you through the beautiful tropical forest in the Lotterie Valley to the Loterie Farm, a former sugar plantation that was constructed in 1773 and ceased activity in 1855. “Today, the smells, noises and coolness of Loterie Farm provides a striking contrast with the rest of the island”.
